Home to over 300 ... what? I will leave you guessing! But perhaps the answer is so obvious - Bwindi Impenetrable National park is the highlight of majority of Ugandan visits. Seeing the mountain gorillas is top of the list for many that choose to do the Ugandan Vacation.

Listen, ...it's simply because this vast diverse rainforest that is so rich with unique species of plants and is home to about 120 mammals including a range of primates; baboons and chimpanzees, elephants, antelopes and more ...

... And , It gets even better; for the bird watchers, there are over 350 different birds in this forest, lots of butterflies - I lost count, 202 species is about 84% of the country's butterfly population - wow!
All that is nothing - I know! the Bwindi Impenetrable National Park is home to an estimated 320 mountain gorillas. I still can't figure out what is most appealing about this place but ... let's put it this way; The gorilla numbers here is roughly half of the world's population - You know they are an endangered species! And in such a serene and secure environment, there is no better place to go gorilla trekking ... Come to Bwindi.
I will take comfort in the species of plants and look for the birds - certainly along the way, I will gate crush the gorilla party - ever been touched by a gorilla? Still not decided?

Located in the southwest of Uganda, Bwindi is exceptionally rich with its biodiversity. It is home to numerous globally threatened species; the gorillas of course, the African elephant, the l'Hoest's monkey and more... It's such an important park not just for Uganda but the entire world; which explains why it's part of the UNESCO World Heritage sites in Uganda.

Bwindi Impenetrable National Park is predominantly forest ... but despite that, there are a few towns and villages just outside the park that you will really enjoy.

Majority of the gorillas you have probably seen in a zoo some where are the lowland gorillas probably from west Africa. You ain't seen nothing yet! - so they say, The Mountain Gorillas are amazingly different ... and you can only find these in Uganda in Bwindi Impenetrable National Park and Mgahinga Gorilla National Park with some in Rwanda and the DR Congo.
... And I guess by now you already know that; Half of the world's Mountain Gorilla population (320) live in Uganda. Sadly that is all there is left. Come and see these amazing creatures.
