While studying in Uganda can be an exciting prospect, there are certainly formalities to be taken care of before you even start your course.
Ensure you have duly done your immigration nitty-gritty;- you have the right visa and all important documents ready to go.
Make copies of all important documents such as; passport, educational documents, statement of enrolment, and others, and keep them in a separate bag than the originals. In the unfortunate event you lose or misplace your originals this will prevent you from completely disintegrating into perplexity.
You will be required to have proof of sufficient funds to see you through your course, a letter of acceptance from your Ugandan University or school/college - mentioning the course you intend to do, confirmation of yellow fever vaccination - You will probably need an international vaccination certificate for yellow fever, and of course a valid visa authorising you to enter and undertake studying in Uganda.
Before setting out, it would be a good idea to have some information on Uganda generally; about the law of the land and the life style of the people. Take for example, as far as Uganda is concern, it is illegal and punishable by law to use and / or carry drugs - no matter the amount. The best place to get such information would be the Ugandan embassy in your country.
Also make sure you have up-to-date information regarding your country's embassy in Uganda and their emergency contact details. They might not necessarily get you out of your troubles at the time when you contact them but they will certainly give you the best advice and will help you to keep in constant touch with your family back home.
There is undoubtedly a lot to take in as you prepare but I hope this helps in your venture into education in Uganda.
It should positively be an enjoyable adventure that you will remember for the rest of your life.
... One last thing before you set off; here is some general advice/resource for you that will even ease your preps further.
