What is Ugandan Christmas like?
by Clare Sandlers
I will be in Uganda later this year for work.
Fortunately I will also have the opportunity to be there through Christmas into the new year. It will be my first Christmas away from my family.
Please tell me; what is Christmas like in Uganda? Are there any Christmas traditions I ought to know?
To quickly allay your fears, you are in for a surprise treat ... Depends on where you plan to be and do.
Christmas in Uganda is about love, peace and sharing with friends and family. There is a merry mood, with lots to eat and drink, dancing, and with lots of excitement but in a rather laid-back mood that will give you an opportunity to enjoy a holiday season like you have never before.
There is no need to worry about any traditions, you will be fine. Here is a good read about Ugandan Christmas that will tell you more.
Whatever your expectations, come with an open mind, leaving room for surprises - You will love it!
